Tavia Grace Odinak is a dancer and performance artist based in Brooklyn, NY. She received a BA in Dance and Theater from Swarthmore College. She has also studied dance at the American Dance Festival, the Bates Dance Festival, with the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, and through Movement Research. Tavia began making and showing performance work professionally in 2009. Her work bleeds across genres, from dance into theater, visual art, poetry, in the interest of creating a holistic performative aesthetic. She is deeply committed to exploring the relationship between text and movement in performance, and has developed an ongoing collaborative process with writer Eric Dean Wilson. Her work has been presented by Dixon Place as part of the Brink! series. Tavia has also shown her work at 100 Grand, in the Not Festival (produced by Luis Lara Malvacías), as part of TAB (a multi-artist, mixed medium, show curated by Kay Ottinger and Stephanie Browne), at Triskelion Arts, and at the Fairfield Theater Company in CT.
